10 Great Things to Take RVing

Summer is here and it’s time to get out on the open road! You’ve packed your clothes, cleaned the RV and you’re ready to roll! But before you go, make sure you pack these cool items to take with you on your trip. Some are necessities and some are just for fun but all of them make the trip go a lot more smoothly.

  1. Offline Activities: We all know that tablets, phones and other devices have cornered the market on “rainy day activities” but make sure you pack some activities that don’t require charging, scrolling or screen time! Packing board games, books, cards, and crafts will help the driving time and indoor time pass much quicker. Playing games around the campfire can be a lot of fun too! If you know you won’t have access to a picnic table, bring along a card table and some chairs and let the game time begin!
  2. Fully Stocked First Aid Kit: You can buy these pre-made and restock it every time you leave town, or you can buy a small plastic container and make your own. Regardelss of the sourse, make sure that your kit is restocked before you leave. A basic kit should contain: plasters in a variety of different sizes and shapes, small, medium and large sterile gauze dressings, at least two sterile eye dressings, a variety of bandages in various sizes, safety pins, disposable sterile gloves, tweezers, scissors, alcohol-free cleansing wipes, sticky tape, thermometer (preferably digital), skin rash cream, such as hydrocortisone or calendula, cream or spray to relieve insect bites and stings, antiseptic cream, painkillers like ibuprofen and acetaminophen– adult and child doses , cough medicine, antihistamine tablets, distilled water for cleaning wounds, eye wash and eye bath.

Having charged walkie talkies are a great safety measure as well as convenient for instant communication if some people are out and about while the others are back at the RV .

  7. Telescope: One of the greatest things about RVing is being able to sit outside and see so many stars that it’s awe-inspiring. Small portable telescopes can be relatively inexpensive and can provide a beautiful view of the open skies above.
  8. Waterproof Disposable Camera: Although the majority of people take pictures on their smartphones or digital cameras, having a couple of waterproof disposable cameras can be a lifesaver when the batteries just aren’t charged, or when you don’t want to risk losing or damaging your device.
  9. Outdoor Speakers: For as little as $10-$15 you can grab an outdoor speaker for your MP3 player or smartphone and turn campfire time into a party! It’s economical and fun.
  10. Campfire Goodies: RVing is no time to skimp on the treats! Cooking things over the open fire is fun for all. S’mores, smokies, veggie dogs…. Make sure you bring the makings of a great treat for everyone!
